Funding Study Abroad

Home School Tuition Model
In order to give all students, not only those who can afford it, access to study abroad, Lasell has a home tuition model. This approach makes the study abroad experience more easily available to all students, regardless of their family’s financial position. Financial aid is provided to a majority of students at Lasell to ensure that ability to pay does not limit their educational opportunities. Because we see the study abroad experience as an integral part of the educational experience at Lasell, we believe that the same principle should apply to studying abroad. In other words we have this policy in the spirit of equity and basic fairness, making it possible for all students to study abroad.

L
asell students studying abroad pay tuition, fees, room and board to Lasell, and Lasell pays the study abroad program for their fees. Financial aid is awarded as if the student is on campus full-time and living in residence. Institutional (Lasell) financial aid as well as state and federal aid is available on the same basis.

Additional Fees
Many study abroad programs include services and excursions in their fees that would not typically be covered by Lasell tuition.  In these instances, the fees are passed along to the student.  Examples of additional fees that may be passed along to a student include but are not limited to: an application fee, a housing damage deposit, international insurance fees, weekend excursion fees, visa fees, and international airfare. For more information on additional fees for a specific study abroad program, please email studyabroad@lasell.edu.

Study Abroad Scholarships
Lasell College does not offer scholarships specific to study abroad.  However, many of Lasell's affiliated study abroad partners do!  Scholarships are also available through several outside funding sources. Scholarships for study abroad vary from as little as $300 to as much as $10,000.  All students who apply for study abroad are given information about study abroad scholarships and are all strongly encouraged to apply. Unless otherwise stated, all scholarship money is awarded directly to the student to be used toward any study abroad related expense.  For more information about study abroad scholarships, please email studyabroad@lasell.edu.
