OPENING DAY
September 4th is rapidly approaching! Opening day at Lasell is a very exciting and busy day for families and the College. Here a few thoughts on how to make it a smooth one for all.
Dress Casually. We will have student athletes standing by to assist families with moving in to residence halls, but inevitably, there will be stairs to climb and a campus to traverse.
Avoid Lines. Often families think it will be easier and faster to bring paperwork (health forms, loan applications, insurance waivers, checks, etc.) with them on opening day rather than mailing them. Actually, you can insure a smoother and faster check-in by sending the paperwork ahead.
Join us for the Welcome Convocation. At 3 o’clock, students are officially welcomed to the Lasell community by the President, faculty, and others. This is a great opportunity to meet members of the College community and watch your student embark on their college career.
ORIENTATION and OPENING WEEK
The first weeks of college can sometimes be overwhelming for new students. Lasell’s Office of Student Activities has planned many opportunities for students to get to know each other and to become familiar with our community and resources. We encourage students to actively participate in orientation and campus events. This is also an important time for students to get to know their academic advisor, who can be a valuable guide and resource to students as they navigate these early weeks. We hope that you will encourage your student to seek out their advisor and to engage in the life of the College.
SAVE THE DATE
We hope to see you at our annual Family and Friends Weekend in October. Please plan to join us the weekend of the 17th-19th for comedy, food, intercollegiate competition, river cruises, a street fair, and of course, River Day. For over 120 years students and families have competed on the Charles River in Lasell’s Old Towne war canoes. Canoe experience is not necessary, but an ability to steer a straight course is highly prized.
On December 9th, we hope you will join us for the Connected Learning Symposium, showcasing our students’ creative academic work.
As you plan ahead for family holidays and vacations, please use the Academic Calendar to guide you.
