Lasell to Honor, Remember Marathon Bombing Victims

April 15, 2014

On the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings, the Lasell community is invited to gather at several events on April 15 to remember the victims of the tragedy and celebrate the strong sense of community that has grown on the Lasell campus and the Boston area.

Lasell College will host three different activities throughout the day that will recall the bravery of all responders, celebrate the strength of our communities, and recognize the ongoing challenges for all survivors and families affected by the bombing.

The events begin with a Service of Remembrance at 2:30 pm on Blodgett Green at the Peace Pole. President Michael Alexander and Student Government Association (SGA) president and Lasell senior, Kevin Mahoney will be the featured speakers. This service will be followed by a moment of silence at 2:49 pm.

From 4:30 to 5:30 pm, the Peer Health Educators and counseling center will host a "Stress Free Zone" in Case House. This Stress Free Zone also includes a pet therapy visit from the Dog Bones organization.

From 6:00 to 8:00 pm SGA, Resident Life, and the Office of Student Activities will host a Marathon Monday Poster Party in the Arnow Campus Center Classroom. Students will make posters for this year's race and sign a banner to be hung along the marathon route. Supplies will be provided, a Poster Contest with prizes will be held, and free pizza will be available.

In addition, Her Campus- Lasell will sell bracelets embossed with the Lasell Strong phrase. Each bracelet will be sold for $1 and 100% of all proceeds will be donated to the One Fund.
