Chet Lasell
Chester “Chet” Lasell was deeply involved in the life of the University that his family founded, and provided scholarship support for Lasell students. He died in September. The retired businessman was 84 years old.
Chet was the great-grandson of Josiah Lasell, the brother of Auburndale Female Seminary founder Edward Lasell. Josiah helped manage the seminary in its early years after Edward died of typhoid at the age of 42. The seminary was renamed in Edward’s honor.
“Chet was a wonderful friend of Lasell and took great pride in the continued evolution of the institution,” Lasell President Michael B. Alexander said.
Chet served on the Board of Overseers for many years and helped create the Lasell Medallion for Service (pictured above), which features the likenesses of Edward and Josiah. Chet and his wife, Kate, hosted events for Lasell at their home in Vero Beach, Florida.
