Toni Kennedy Gelotte '56
Toni Kennedy Gelotte ’56 is remembered by Jan Bogardus ’56 as a “fun-loving character” and loyal friend who cared deeply about Lasell. Toni died in May at the age of 84.
Toni, a brash New Yorker, and Jan, who grew up in a small town in Central Massachusetts, met as first-year students in Woodland Hall and remained close friends for nearly seven decades. They spoke frequently by phone and saw each other a couple of times a year.
“She was a very dear friend with a lot of spirit,” says Jan, who remembered Toni helping her find a job in New York City after graduation. “Everyone loved Toni.”
Toni worked as a secretary in the television, media, and consulting industries, including many years with Arthur D. Little. She was a skilled artist in the Norwegian rosemaling style.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Her husband, Erik, died in 2003.
“She enjoyed a fine career and built deep connections with family and friends,” says Karl Gelotte, her nephew. “I think that was a testament to the education she received at Lasell.”
