Lasell fared quite well during the last year despite a plethora of academic, social, operational, and financial challenges presented by the pandemic. 

• Because our community closely followed all health and safety protocols, Lasell avoided the outbreaks that ravaged some campuses. Out of 55,697 COVID-19 tests administered on campus and at Lasell Village, the positivity rate was just 0.2 percent. In all, 110 cases of COVID-19 were recorded. Restrictions on student gatherings were relaxed toward the end of the spring semester and intercollegiate athletics resumed due to the community’s adherence to federal, state, and campus guidelines.
• Although just more than half of all classes were offered solely online, 86 percent of respondents to the annual Undergraduate Student Satisfaction Survey rated the quality of instruction as positive, similar to results reported during the year prior to the pandemic.
  
  
• 56 percent of undergraduate students chose to live on campus despite rigorous social-distancing restrictions. The positive sense of pride among students responding to the student satisfaction survey actually rose by seven percentage points from 2019.
  
  
• In accordance with the wishes of members of the Classes of 2020 and 2021, Lasell hosted three socially distanced Commencement ceremonies on May 14 and 15: One each for graduate students from both classes, for 2020 undergraduates, and for 2021 undergraduates. Nobel Prize laureate Dr. James Muller delivered the Commencement address at each ceremony.
