Priscilla Lundin, P’16, a New York City attorney and member of the Lasell Board of Overseers since 2015, is grateful.
Lundin and her husband, cardiologist William J. Schwartz, value that when their son Ethan Schwartz ’16 graduated with a bachelor’s in sport management, he had a clear career path forward. Ethan earned a master’s from Adelphi University’s College of Education and Health Sciences and now teaches physical education and health at a charter high school in the South Bronx.
Lundin remains a stalwart supporter of the University even though she is not a current Lasell parent. “Being ‘Laser focused’ on getting the word out about Lasell’s mission and values helps not only current students, but alumni, too,” she says.
Lundin’s most recent donations were to the Forever Forward capital campaign and the Student Emergency Fund. She gives annually to the Lasell Fund, designating some gifts to areas such as the Academic Achievement Center and the Intercultural Center & Commuter Cottage (IC3). Other donations have recognized individuals’ service to the community, including President Michael B. Alexander. “I greatly admire his successful leadership of the University during turbulent times,” she says.
Lundin also contributes her time to Lasell. Before COVID-19, she and her husband hosted two receptions at their home, where accepted students and their families from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut mingled with Lasell admissions staff and alumni, including Ethan. She hopes to host accepted students from the tri-state area again soon.
Lundin opens doors for Lasell, too. In November, she learned that Associate Professor Dina Tanvuia was coming to New York City with a group of 12 students majoring in hospitality and event management to attend a hotel convention. Lundin quickly arranged a tour of the prestigious New York Athletic Club (NYAC), a private club where she is a member.
Lundin and the club’s human resources director, Andrew Halper, who led the tour, were pleased to each receive a photo with a thank you card signed by the students and Tanvuia. There was also a story about the tour and photo in the January-February 2022 Winged Foot club magazine. Headlined “Welcoming Lasell to the NYAC,” it concludes: “Who knows? In the future, we may be welcoming some of these talented students back to the Club as members of our top-class staff.”
