Dear members of the Lasell University community,
The world never stops changing - and neither do we. Higher education today is remarkably different than it was in 1851, and we have continually adapted our approach to preparing students of all ages for a successful future. We have shifted from a female seminary to a junior college, from a single-sex baccalaureate institution to a coeducational college with more than 40 undergraduate and graduate degrees.
And now, we are Lasell University.
I say "we" deliberately. In one sense, this change is a natural step in Lasell's evolution. It reflects what has happened over the past 168 years as we have become a more complex institution. And in another sense, it is a symbol of our collective aspiration to reach for something that is not necessarily bigger, but stronger.
Today, our institution has many constituent parts: two early childhood facilities, an internationally recognized continuing care retirement community, undergraduate students from near and far, and a growing global graduate population.
In short, we now have the resources to educate people from 3 months of age to those over 100. Our ability to provide lifelong learning opportunities to students of all ages is at the core of our vision for Lasell University. When we see shifts in society or communal cries for support, Lasell responds.
We will continue to explore innovative ways of providing a high quality private education at a cost that people can afford. We will pioneer learning across the lifespan. We aspire to build upon the momentum of the last 20 years to ensure a bright future for Lasell University.
We will move forever forward.
