Richard Saville "Dick" Holway H'01 (pictured R) served on the Lasell Board of Trustees from 1984 to 2006, as treasurer and then chairman during his tenure. Holway became a driving force behind Lasell's transformation at the turn of the millennium from a two-year women's college to a thriving, four-year coeducational institution. Holway passed on September 23, 2018, in Port Charlotte, Florida.

"Dick's leadership was pivotal to Lasell," said former Lasell President Thomas de Witt (pictured L). "He was a mentor to me through my 19-year presidency."

Holway's legacy impacts every Lasell student on a daily basis. His input shaped the modern operations and structure of the Office of Academic and Student Affairs. The Holway Child Study Centers - home of The Barn and Rockwell Preschool - were named in honor of Holway's grandmother, Ella Ellis Holway (class of 1881), an advocate for women's education.

"Dick and his wife, Jeannine, recognized the continued growth, success, and expansion of the [early childhood] programs," said Kellee Miller, executive director of the Holway Early Childhood Centers.

"The Holway name has carried on for the past 22 years as a well-known and highly sought source of early education programs in Newton," said Miller.
