Margo Lemieux is interested in many aspects of the arts - formal concepts, history, and contemporary practices. Her practice includes painting, drawing, printmaking, as well as new media. In addition, she is currently making handmade artist books. She has written articles for American Artist magazine, the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators Bulletin, and for many years wrote a book review column for the Attleboro Sun Chronicle.

Prior to Lasell, Margo Lemieux was the illustrator and author of children's books, a newspaper correspondent, a graphic designer and community coordinator at an arts museum. Currently, she is Central New England Regional Advisor for the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators and a YMCA-certified exercise instructor. She has an interest in music and poetry and integrates these into her curriculum. She has traveled to Sparks, Nevada, to participate in a rock art documentation workshop sponsored by the Nevada Rock Art Foundation, where she worked at the remains of a 4000 year old Washoe Indian settlement.

At Lasell, Margo Lemieux organized the first Lasell Creative Showcase: Bringing the Lasell Community Together Through Creativity.

What is your teaching philosophy for Lasell courses?
"The arts very naturally allow for Connected Learning and encourage students to focus on developing creative thinking. As a 21st century artist, I incorporate both traditional and new media, experience outside the classroom, and service to the community, as part of the educational experience."
