Keynote Speakers
John Edlund, Ph.D.
Professor of Psychology, Rochester Institute of Technology Research Director, Psi Chi
John Edlund serves as the Research Director of Psi Chi: The International Honor Society in Psychology; he serves as an executive editor at the Journal of Social Psychology and as an associate editor of Psychological Reports as well as Collabra: Psychology. He received his doctorate from Northern Illinois University. He has won numerous awards related to teaching and mentoring and is passionate about the dissemination of scientific knowledge. His research interests are quite varied, ranging from exploring meta- research scientific questions, evolutionary theory being applied to interpersonal relationships, to social and legal psychologies. Additionally, his work is focused on the improvement of knowledge and teaching in science. He has published over 60 peer- reviewed articles and edited chapters, and well as editing multiple research methods textbooks.
Robert Calin-Jageman, Ph.D.
Professor of Psychology & Director of the Neuroscience Program, Dominican University
Bob Calin-Jageman completed his undergraduate degree in philosophy at Albion College, his masters and PhD in psychology.at Wayne State University, and post-doctoral training in neurobiology with Paul Katz at Georgia State University. Bob’s research in collaboration with Irina Calin-Jageman focuses on the neurobiology of long-term memory and forgetting in the model organisms Aplysia californica; their NIH-supported lab has mentored over 30 students to co-authorship on peer- reviewed publications in neuroscience. Bob is also active in replication research, Open Science, and efforts to improve statistical inference. Along with Geoff Cumming, Bob is co-author of Introduction to the New Statistics, the first undergraduate statistics textbook to emphasize Open Science, estimation, and meta-analysis. The second edition of the textbook will be published in 2024 along with esci, free open-source software for R, jamovi, and JASP to make estimation statistics and meta-analysis accessible. Bob serves as statistical consultant on the advisory board of eNeuro, one of the two official journals of the Society for Neuroscience. Bob blogs about statistics with Geoff Cumming and has a lab website.
Stephen Chen, Ph.D.
Associate Professor of Psychology, Wellesley College
Stephen Chen directs the Culture & Family Development Lab and teaches courses in Cultural Psychology, Asian American Psychology, and Culture and Emotion. Dr. Chen's research examines how cultural and family processes influence mental health and development across the lifespan, with a focus on under-represented, underserved, and at-risk populations. He currently serves on the Editorial Boards of Child Development and Developmental Psychology, and also on the Steering Committee of the Society for Research in Child Development's Asian Caucus.
