The Youth and Crime minor consists of six courses. Psychology and Sociology majors must take a minimum of 3 CJ/LS courses from the list. CJ/LS majors must take a minimum of 3 PSYC/SOC courses from the list.
This course focuses on the history and philosophy of juvenile justice, landmark court cases, police handling of juveniles, the juvenile court, the deinstitutionalization of status offenders, and juvenile rehabilitation.
This course will provide you with an introduction to central concepts/issues related to the developmental phase of adolescence from historical, psychological, social, and cultural perspectives. The course will also focus on major problems and challenges facing adolescents in modern society.
