Temporary Parking
There is no temporary or short-term parking on campus. Students who need to park their vehicles for a limited time in an area for which they do not have a permit, must notify the Campus Police Department/ Office of Public Safety prior to parking their vehicles. An officer will advise students where to park temporarily, and the vehicles must be moved within the designated time period or they will be subject to ticketing and/or towing. Students who arrive at the lot for which they have a permit, and find all of the parking spaces taken, must notify Campus Police immediately. Students will be advised where to park until spaces in the permitted lot become available. Students must not take it upon themselves to park in a lot other than that for which they have a permit, as they will be subject to being ticketing and/or towing. Activating emergency flashers while parked illegally will not prevent a vehicle from being ticketed and/or towed. Reminder: vehicles are never permitted to park in a Fire Lane, nor are they permitted to park in a designated handicap space without a handicap parking permit. Such illegally parked vehicles are subject to immediate ticketing and/or towing.
Guest Parking
Parking for guests of Lasell College students is only available on campus between Friday at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Guests of Lasell College students must register their vehicles with the Lasell College Campus Police Department/Office of Public Safety. Vehicles may be registered and a Guest Permit obtained by contacting the Campus Police Department/Office of Public Safety at any time between 5:00 p.m. on Friday and 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Both the Lasell College student and his/her guest must be present to register the vehicle and obtain a Guest Parking Permit. The Lasell College student is required to present his/her Lasell ID card, and the guest is required to present his/her driver's license and vehicle registration. There is no charge for a Guest Parking Permit. While on Lasell College owned or leased property, a guest is the responsibility of the Lasell student who is hosting him/her. The Lasell student who is hosting a guest is responsible for all fines and/or towing charges that may be incurred by the guest. Failure to register a guest vehicle may result in ticketing and/or towing expenses, and those expenses will be the responsibility of the Lasell student who is hosting that guest.
Street Parking
Students choosing to park on public streets should familiarize themselves with City of Newton parking regulations. Note: there is no overnight parking on City of Newton streets between November 15 and April 15.
Parking Permits
There are two types of parking permits for Lasell College students:
Parking Fees
Students applying for a Resident Student Parking Permit, are required to pay a $100 non-refundable parking deposit. The remaining parking fee must be paid in full prior to the issuance of the parking permit. Parking fees may be paid by the semester or the year. Parking fees may be refunded, upon request, to a student who terminates parking prior to the beginning of an academic semester (minus the non-refundable $100 deposit); no refund of parking fees will be made after the first day of classes in a semester, or to a student who leaves the College, or who no longer has a vehicle on campus.
Temporary Medical Permits
Temporary medical permits may be obtained from the Campus Police Department/Office of Public Safety, to accommodate students with temporary medical situations. Requests for temporary medical parking permits must include written documentation from a licensed physician, explaining the need for a medical permit and the duration that it is required. Campus Police staff, in consultation with the Director of Health Services and/or the Director of Disability Services, will consider and respond to all requests for temporary medical permits.
Lost or Stolen Parking Permits
Lost or stolen permits must be reported to Campus Police immediately. Lost/Stolen Permit Form must be completed before a new permit can be issued. A $5 fee will be charged for a replacement permit.
New Vehicles
If a student changes vehicles, she/he must obtain a new parking permit from the Campus Police Department/Office of Public Safety. A $5 fee will be charged for a new permit.
Violations/Fines/Payments
Tickets issued for parking violations indicate the date, time, place, and reason for the ticket being written. Tickets are placed on the windshield of the offending vehicle. Tickets must be paid within 14 days of issuance. Fine may be doubled on tickets left unpaid for 21 days or more. Unpaid parking tickets may result in a "hold" being placed on a student's account and/or against various College services.*
Appeals
Students wishing to appeal a parking ticket must do so within seven (7) days of issuance. Appeals can be filed by choosing the "Appeals" tab in the MyParking application on MyLasell. Appeals for tickets issued for illegally parked vehicles (for any reason and/or for any amount of time), will be denied. Students should review the "Parking Rules and Regulations" to insure that they were not in violation, prior to sending an appeal.
Towing
Vehicles creating a safety hazard, parked in a fire lane, and/or illegally parked in handicap spaces, may be towed at any time. Vehicles with three or more outstanding Lasell College parking tickets, are subject to being towed. If a vehicle has been towed, the owner should contact the Campus Police Department/Office of Public Safety, located on the lower level of Winslow Hall, for instruction on how to retrieve his/her vehicle. All parking fines and fees related to the towing will be posted to the student's account.*
*Payments: Payment of parking fines and towing fees should be made via the Student Account Center (SAC). To make a payment, students can log in to MyLasell, then select the SAC/ePay button in Self Service. From the landing page, select Make a One Time Payment, then choose the appropriate term and complete the payment. Students may pay on line by check (using the account routing number) at no extra charge; or students may pay by credit card with a convenience fee.
