A Culture of Inquiry

The Academic Achievement Center (AAC) at Lasell University offers a comprehensive menu of options for students to access academic supports. Multi-modal services are offered in-person and remotely by professional and student staff members who support students throughout the learning process with time management, organization, study strategies, notetaking, practicing and preparing for presentations, content tutoring, and the writing process.
Dolores Radlo is the senior director of academic support, technology, and accessibility at Lasell. In this role, she manages a team of 11 staff members in the AAC to serve students’ academic needs. Dolores and her team have worked diligently throughout the semester to foster what she calls “a welcoming culture of inquiry.” For her leadership, vision, and commitment to innovation, Dolores was recently recognized with the Excellence in Technology Administration Award at #CONNECTED21.
“Our institution has implemented an awesome communication, scheduling and early alert system called Starfish designed to enhance and strengthen students’ connections with their classroom faculty, academic advisors and campus resources,” said Radlo. “This is one more way that demonstrates our commitment to providing equitable access and supportive services for all students to thrive in the academic, residential, and social aspects of student life at Lasell University.”
Radlo is bullish on the impact of the AAC’s culture at the University: “Because of our collaborative and actively engaged learning community here at Lasell, we have built our strength-based academic supports on the premise that all students looking to enhance their academic and professional pursuits and passions can and will access our services at some point in their academic careers with us. This is our academic culture: to always push further, explore, and grow together.”
Students can reach out to the AAC through Starfish for both one-time and recurring sessions, as well as attend study groups and workshops or drop in between classes to work with available tutors. The AAC is open Monday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-9:00 p.m., and on Fridays from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
