Lasell University Establishes ALPFA Chapter
December 14, 2021
Lasell University has established a collegiate chapter within the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA). The national professional organization empowers and develops Latino leaders of character in every sector of the global economy. In Boston alone, ALPFA’s network includes more than 10,700 active members and 30+ corporate partners.
ALPFA at Lasell University (ALPFALU) was established by Yordan Villalon ’16 G’22 and is led by Villalon, the organization’s president, and Josefyne Santiago ’22, vice president. Professor Claudia Rinaldi, PhD, is the organization’s advisor.
“Having an ALPFA student chapter at Lasell will bring many opportunities and connections to our students,” said Rinaldi.
Lasell joins 100 other colleges and universities in establishing a student ALPFA chapter, and becomes the eighth student chapter affiliated with the Boston professional network alongside Brandeis International Business School, Bentley University, Boston University, Bryant University, Harvard University, Suffolk University, and UMass Amherst. Student chapters have access to job fairs, networking, professional and personal development workshops, volunteer opportunities, internships, and mentorship programs. Focus areas include financial literacy, entrepreneurship, technology, leadership and empowerment, student affairs, and LGBTQ+ initiatives.
At Lasell, ALPFALU seeks additional leadership officers to take on roles as treasurer, social media manager, webmaster, and marketing director, with more opportunities to come. The organization will hold online and in-person meetings, with ALPFA seminars available virtually for Lasell students to make professional connections regardless of location.
