Lasers Basketball Smashes Program Records
January 25, 2022
Four players for Lasell University’s basketball teams celebrated career, program, and conference achievements in a record-breaking week for the Lasers.
Senior men’s basketball guard EJ Day scored his 1,000th collegiate point in a home game at the Lasell Athletic Center against GNAC foe Colby-Sawyer College. Day previously scored a game-high 21 points earlier in the month in a match against Saint Joseph’s (Conn.).
Graduate forward Kevin Vanderhorst set a LU program record with 27 rebounds in a single game in the same match against Colby-Sawyer, while freshman guard Jasmine DePina broke the same record for the women’s team with 27 rebounds in a win over Rivier University.
On Monday, Senior forward Meg Carroll was named GNAC Player of the Week. Carroll received the same honor in early December, and ended the calendar year with a nod from the United States Basketball Writers Association as their Division III National Player of the Week.
The regular season for both teams will end on February 19, with GNAC playoffs starting on February 22.
