Lasell’s collegiate DECA chapter won four awards at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) in Baltimore this month.
Seven students competed on behalf of the University against teams from all over North America in categories related to their fields of study.
Jillian Nangle ’24 and Meaghan Csongor ’24 each received third-place awards in the Travel & Tourism and Entrepreneurship: Starting a Business categories, respectively. Victoria Savluk ’23 placed in the Top 10 in Financial Accounting, as did Kim Nguyen ’24 in Fashion Merchandising & Marketing. Teammates Spencer Villinski ’25, Charles Anderson ’24, and Bianca Almeida ’25 all had strong showings in the Human Resource Management category, with Anderson earning a medal for his performance on the human resources exam.
“These seven students represented Lasell on the national stage against schools of all sizes, and I couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them,” says Catharine Weiss, associate professor of fashion and Lasell DECA advisor.
“This group will enter the workforce prepared to hit the ground running because of their hard work, grit, and determination. I thank them for their commitment and perseverance over this academic year — it clearly paid off!”
The DECA cohort competed earlier this year at the Massachusetts DECA Association’s qualifying conference, where all team members earned spots at the ICDC competition.
