GPS Spotlight: MS in Communication, Digital Media
January 21, 2022
Lasell University’s division of Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) has introduced a new Master of Science in Communication degree with a focus on digital media. The program prepares communications professionals with the skills and network needed to advance their careers in social media strategy, data analytics, and digital storytelling.
Throughout the program, students engage with interactive projects and case studies to further their media campaign expertise and explore ways to engage diverse audiences in the digital space. Those skills are in high demand — Burning Glass job market analytics show that more than 47,000 relevant jobs in the digital media field were available in 2021.
“The new MS program will provide a professional edge to students looking to engage and influence key stakeholders and consumers across a variety of industries,” says Program Chair and Professor of Communication Janice Barrett.
“Graduates will be ready to jump right into the next stage of their career and become a major asset to any communications team.”
Students will take courses in communication ethics, media relations, persuasion and public opinion, and digital media analytics, and will obtain a HubSpot social media certificate upon completion of the program. They will also have the option of four capstone opportunities: a professional internship, thesis, comprehensive exam, or special study project.
The program is offered in both fully online and hybrid formats.
