October 01, 2024
Two Lasell University graphic design students, Jamie Kinteris '24 and Huy Le '24, achieved truly remarkable recognition over the summer, highlighting the strength of Lasell's graphic design program and the dedication of its students.
Jamie Kinteris: A Next Generation Adobe Summit Invitee
In July 2024, recent Lasell graduate Jamie Kinteris received an exclusive invitation to attend Adobe’s Next Generation Summit in San Francisco, marking her first participation in this prestigious event. Jamie was one of only 30 individuals selected from across North America to attend the two-day summit in August, held at Adobe’s Bay Area office. All accommodations were covered for the event, which featured panel discussions, product demonstrations, and collaborative sessions where attendees provided feedback in Adobe’s boardrooms.
Reflecting on the experience, Jamie shared her excitement: “It was amazing. The Adobe employees were so welcoming, it was an energizing and creative atmosphere. You could tell they really cared about design.” She also noted the fascinating discussions about working with major brands like NASA and Nickelodeon. “I’m so grateful for this experience.”
Jamie credits her time at Lasell for preparing her to thrive at the summit. "Meeting with faculty to refine my portfolio at the end of the spring semester helped build my confidence and make important connections,” she said. “I’m deeply indebted to Lasell for igniting my passion for design. Experiences like working with TARNISHED and POLISHED Magazines, as well as preparing my work for Lasell’s Symposium, were invaluable in shaping my skills.”
Offering advice to current Lasell students, she emphasized the importance of exploring passions and taking advantage of faculty support. “The faculty is there to help, and you belong here.”
Jamie graduated from Lasell in May 2024.
Huy Le: 2024 American Digital Design Award Winner
Huy Le, a senior graphic design student originally from Vietnam, also garnered national recognition this summer when he was named one of the 2024 American Digital Design Award winners by Graphic Design USA (GDUSA). His submission, a zine he created for his senior practicum, stood out among more than 3,000 entries, making him one of just 10 winners of this highly competitive award.
Huy’s winning work is featured in the 2024 GDUSA magazine, showcasing his exceptional talent to a broader audience. “I am beyond thrilled to have been selected,” Huy said. “Lasell has been such a supportive place, and the people here truly care about helping you become the best version of yourself.”
Huy credits professors Vladimir Zimakov and Deb Baltazar for being influential mentors throughout his time at Lasell, guiding him through the development of his portfolio and encouraging him to push creative boundaries. "The way they think, and live design, has had a lasting impact on me," Huy said.
Set to graduate in December 2024, Huy aspires to move to New York City and work in the fashion industry, applying his design expertise to a field that fuels his passion.
