Michael B. Alexander Named President-in-Residence at Harvard Graduate School of Education
May 22, 2023
After he retires from the Lasell University presidency on June 30, Michael B. Alexander will not go far. It was recently announced that he will be one of two “Presidents-in-Residence” in the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s (HGSE) McLaughlin Program.
The program was founded to “provide former presidents with a transitional opportunity to share the knowledge they acquired throughout their careers.” HGSE is eager for Alexander to share lessons learned from his career in higher education and to reflect on mistakes as a means of mentoring future leaders.
Alexander earned his bachelor’s degree from Harvard in 1973, and also served as assistant dean of first-year students at his alma mater. As an HGSE president-in-residence, he will join the ranks of former leaders from Morehouse College, Northeastern University, and Wellesley College, in addition to outgoing Harvard University President Lawrence S. Bacow. For the 2023-2024 academic year, Alexander will serve alongside Elsa M. Nunez, president of Eastern Connecticut State University.
