For Second time Psi Chi Recognizes Lasell University as Model Chapter
September 14, 2022
Lasell University’s chapter of Psi Chi, the international honor society in psychology, has been selected as a recipient of a Model Chapter Award by the organization, one of only 28 chapters among 1,150 chapters internationally to get this recognition.
Psi Chi’s mission is to recognize and promote excellence in the science and application of psychology. Under the leadership of Professor Zane Zheng and Dean Lori Rosenthal, Lasell’s Psi Chi chapter has expanded its reach within the Lasell community.
The chapter was able to meet all the requirements for this award within the 2021-2022 academic year by inducting new members and creating new events on campus that support the idea of psychology. Requirements include hosting campus events and students have gone above and beyond in creating a myriad of events that involve a wide community.
“In the past few years, we have tried to increase the activities and vibrance of our local chapter. We really wanted to make it fun, educational, and meaningful, not just for psychology students but all students on campus. Our events include fundraising, pizza and movie night, psychology game night, paint night, yoga and meditation, and we also participate in symposium to raise awareness about mental health issues and show support.”
Professor Zheng praised his student leaders this year for all their hard work to reach this milestone. “Getting this chapter award has demonstrated the commitment of our student leadership team. They’ve done such a wonderful job.”
Student leaders include Carrie He (President) Senior, Emily Casella (Vice President) Senior, Julia Ramza (Secretary) Junior, and Ray Karaczun (Treasurer) Junior.
