Looking Ahead - A Message from President Eric Turner
As we begin this new year, I take great pride in looking back on our many accomplishments over the past 12 months while also looking ahead as we chart a new course for the upcoming 2024/2025 academic year and beyond.
Over the next year – and with your help and support - we will focus on a few specific areas that I believe will help us move forward as we continue serving and supporting our students in a myriad of ways.
We will continue to update and enhance our facilities.
- Our new Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality Lab will open this fall.
- We are expanding our Surgical Technology program and use of its Lab which serves as the hub for this model program.
- Saunders House will open soon following a major renovation.
- Sustainability projects have been ongoing for the past year. These projects will continue as we strive to create a more energy-efficient campus.
We plan to build on the success of last year’s historic athletic seasons.
- We will grow and expand our athletics, intramural sports and club teams.
- We will deepen our relationships within the athletic alumni community.
Alternative Revenue remains a priority for Lasell as we move into the future.
- The Holway Early Childhood Centers are fully open for the first time since 2020. We are working to enroll full classes at every level.
- Let’s build on and expand our partnerships in a variety of sectors including healthcare and biotechnology.
- As always, we are going to explore additional partnerships and affiliations with businesses and other colleges and universities.
Teaching and Learning is the foundation of everything we do.
- We are committed to strengthening, updating and evolving our curriculum so our students have the most current career-ready coursework to prepare them for life after Lasell.
- We will continue to expand service-learning experiences for all of our students.
- We plan to increase international educational opportunities for our entire community.
- Our strategic plans call for further growth of our workforce development programs.
- We are working to increase early college and dual enrollment opportunities for high school students.
- Lasell’s new initiative, the Collaboration Recognition Program, will be available to every student in First-Year Seminar as well as to many other students in other courses, in order to prepare them with vital skills that employers value in today’s workforce.
- We are adding new online programs to enhance learning opportunities for non-traditional students.
Community remains our strength. It’s what distinguishes us, and it remains what I’m most proud of.
- Increasing student participation in clubs, activities and attendance at athletic, academic and social events improve the quality of every student’s experience. We are striving to make that experience the best it can be.
- We will broaden our corporate partnerships – and place Lasell interns at new and different companies in the state, region and nationwide.
- Remember retention is everyone’s job.
Living here on our beautiful campus has only heightened my fondness for Lasell and our incredible community.
I am so very excited for this upcoming academic year and look forward to seeing everyone on campus. I hope you all will join me at the Inauguration ceremony in October where we will come together as a community to celebrate Lasell’s rich history and bright future.
And, most important, we will continue to execute on our strategic plan and design a successful future for Lasell University.
