The Sport Leadership concentration provides the broadest foundation within the Sport Management program. Encompassing the skills of a traditional MBA and a specific focus on issues related to sports, coursework addresses everything from operations and finance to media relations and service for an increasingly global set of stakeholders and fans. While most graduates pursue rewarding careers in the industry, others leverage their widely applicable leadership skills in advanced positions in other fields. Prepare for any number of careers within the sporting world – and beyond.

A convenient online approach

  • 36 credits of coursework: 24 credits in the core program curriculum; nine credits of concentration-specific courses; 3-credit capstone

Our curriculum will help you build the skill set you need to advance in the field of Sport Management Leadership.

The curriculum for this program is shown below. The degree program is structured as follows:

  • 36 credits are required for the SMGT degree up to 6 may be waived based on prior academic work which you pick 1 of 2 capstone options: SMGT781 Writing & Reporting Research in Sport or SMGT797 Professional Research 
  • 27 credits (9 courses) comprise the core offerings
  • 9 credits (3 courses) required for the concentration 
    • Students can choose to take 3 of the following courses: SMGT703, SMGT707, SMGT713, SMGT716, SMGT722, SMGT728

Requirements

Candidates seeking admission to Lasell University's Sport Management graduate degree or certificate programs must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

No GMAT/GRE scores are required for admission. 

Admission Requirements Checklist:

  2. Official transcripts of all college-level coursework 
  3. A one-page personal statement describing your goals, strengths, and potential for achievement in graduate school
  4. Resume

International Applicants:

This program is not F-1 eligible, international applicants can only be considered for the online curriculum option.

All International applicants need to submit English equivalency from one of the following: TOEFL scores: minimum required score is 80 (iBT) or IELTS, minimum required score is 6.0; or Pearson PTE Academic minimum score is 53; or Duolingo minimum required score is 105. The English equivalency scores may be waived for international applicants who have earned a bachelor's degree at an accredited college/university in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada.
