Emily Makin-Kennedy Testimonial
Emily Makin-Kennedy is a Human Resources Manager for Ironside, a business intelligence and data warehousing consulting firm. She specializes in recruiting consultants for Ironside's regional offices while simultaneously handling all HR responsibilities, including orientation, benefits administration, compensation, and employee relations. She holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Management from Assumption College. As many working professionals were attracted to Lasell's graduate programs, Kennedy was employed in her field (in HR at Crosspoint Engineering) while pursuing her master's degree.
What attracted you to Lasell's graduate program?
I was looking for a program where the focus could be HR management rather than a general overview of business management. I wanted to learn more about HR law, change management, organizational behavior, and other areas. Lasell's focus was on target for me.
What was your academic experience like?
The amazingly talented professors were themselves working professionals who lived and breathed HR. I was able to ask them real-life questions pertaining to my current role (and potential future strategies), and I benefited from the wisdom I received in return. As the program grew, the administrative staff remained supportive and open to new value-added ideas to further advance the academic experience.
How did the program help you advance your already-successful career?
After going through the program, I realized I was ready to expand my professional responsibilities and also be more of a thought leader in the industry. I enjoy both sides of my role, managing recruiting and the HR components of the organization, but I am also an avid player in our growth strategy.
