What is a Micro Work Experience?
Micro work experiences are short-term, paid, professional assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns. These projects enable you to demonstrate skills, explore career paths, and build your networks as you seek the right full-time role.
Unlike traditional internships, Micro work experiences can take place year-round, typically range from 5 to 40 hours of work, and are due between one week and one month after kick-off. Micro work experiences are used by companies ranging from those in the Fortune 100 to emerging start-ups, and go across departments including sales, marketing, technology, HR, and finance.
What are the benefits of a Micro Work Experience?
Micro work experiences are a great way to earn money, build your resume and set yourself up for success. By participating in a micro work experience, you can:
- Develop the career readiness competencies valued by employers
- Explore new industries and potential career paths
- Build meaningful connections with organizations across the country
- Demonstrate your skills and abilities – many employers use micro work experiences as a way to connect with potential interns and full-time hires
