What clubs, athletics, organizations have you been involved in at Lasell?
I was a writer and Arts and Entertainment editor for the 1851 Chronicle, the school’s student-run newspaper, and I was also the Blog Director for POLISHED Magazine, Lasell's fashion and culture magazine.
What was the "thing" that made you know that Lasell was right for you?
There was something so intimate about Lasell’s environment that made me believe it was the right fit for me. Knowing someone in every class and working with the same professors provided great opportunities for me to thrive both socially and academically.
What is one experience you’ve had within the classroom that you were instantly able to apply to your life/career/internships?
My sophomore year I took a Public Speaking course with Jovonte Santos, Assistant Professor of Communication, that was really helpful in building my confidence. In my current position as a Junior Public Relations Associate, I am always interacting with clients and participating in networking events, so being able to speak with confidence is important. That course brought me out of my shell early on and helped me trust myself, and that confidence carried me through college and is still benefiting me today.
How has your academic program positively influencing your career/life?
Lasell's communications program has been fundamental in building me into the professional I am now. My professors were great at providing me with educational opportunities that allowed me to explore all of the areas of communications and figure out how my strengths could apply to a career. More than that, however, every single professor I learned from instilled a confidence in me that made me unafraid to seek out opportunities and advocate for myself. In particular I would like to thank Ian Meropol, Meryl Perlson, Kurt Wirth, and Jovonte Santos for their constant guidance and support. These professors genuinely wanted the best for me and their students and we are better because of that.
