Tell us a little bit about yourself:
"Love living with culture, confidence, and creativity" is a life motto I enthusiastically promote, and it is also the building block for my pedagogical principles. Embodying that philosophy requires embracing the fact that I was born a learner and learned to be a teacher. I am a teacher who actively seeks developmental training, constructive evaluations, industry knowledge, and progressive multicultural interactions.
What is essential for your students to take away from your classes?
I aim for students to leave with an appreciation and a keen eye for design and garment construction. Most importantly, I want students to discover their creative voice and utilize that voice to perform at their highest potential.
How does your professional background influence your time in the classroom with students?
Cultural appreciation is an intrinsic part of my professional work ethic, creative expression, and teaching philosophy. Throughout my career, working with and embracing people from cross-cultural backgrounds has been an enriching experience. In the classroom, I capitalize on inclusivity by promoting a welcoming academic environment. I also encourage students to explore a diverse array of artistic and multicultural viewpoints respectfully. My goal is to challenge students to access the relationship between the audience, the creator, and society. This holistic approach opens the mind to social consciousness and responsibility.
