Offered during the spring semester, our Job Shadowing Program allows students to learn more about professions, receive career-related advice, and reflect on the ways in which their Lasell education can prepare them for life after Lasell. Students will have the opportunity to spend one or two days with a professional in their preferred industry.
How to Participate
If you are a student interested in applying for the job shadow program, you must attend a Job Shadow Orientation Session, and complete the online application on Handshake.

Program Questions and Answers
Job shadowing allows you to explore a career by spending a day with a professional in industry and “shadow” a day in the life. Job shadows are short-term and can last anywhere from half a day to up to three days. By completing a job shadowing experience, you may feel more confident in pursuing a certain career, or have a chance to redirect in order to find a better fit.
It depends on the host and the type of industry/organization. Examples: taking a tour, conducting informational interviews with the host and co-workers of the host, sitting in on meetings, observing work being performed, assisting with tasks and actual projects (e.g., conduct research, write reports, etc.).
You must have a 2.7 GPA or greater, and must have completed one full semester at Lasell prior to the shadowing semester.
You can request to participate up to 3 days. We will try to assign you as many days as possible, but cannot guarantee more a multiple-day job shadow experience.
This is not a paid experience. You will, however, gain a great deal of knowledge and insight into the industry and workplace that you are matched with.
We cannot guarantee a match, but we will do everything we can to find a job shadow host for you.
We will do the best we can to pair you with a fitting company. Each company that has been chosen will provide a worthwhile experience for each student.
We will be offering workshops at various times throughout the week of Feb 27-Mar 3. If you are unable to attend any of the meetings, please email Jessi Orlando at jorlando@lasell.edu.
If you have reached out to your host to set up a date to job shadow and you have not heard back from them within 1 week, email Jessi Orlando jorlando@lasell.edu.
Application Questions and Answers
Once you have applied through Handshake, the Career Center will review applications. If a match is made, we will notify you and you will then sign up for an orientation session. Following a job shadow orientation session, you will be provided with your job shadow host’s contact information. It is your responsibility to contact your sponsor to set up a date for your job shadow after reviewing the guidelines that will be provided to you at the orientation session.
Career Center will review all applications, fields of interest, and do our best to match you with a participating employer.
You will be notified by Feb 23 via email. You will then be instructed to register for a required pre-job shadow orientation session.
